1.1.3 Now

Monday, February 11th, 2008

I followed George’s wonderful post here to make it done.

And after the soft-upgrade, again, with help from George on iCosta installation,  and  some 3rd-party app fixes, i should say my iphone is ready to go.

Besides, George has so many valuable posts there on his blog. So if you wanna do some iphone hackings like me, i strongly recommend to subscribe his blog and check often.

So for now, I have a fully functional(except Google Maps’ Locate me) iphone in firmware 1.1.3 and unlocked bb 04.02.13_G  :-)

Fix: Customize Doesn’t Work On 1.1.2

Monday, February 4th, 2008

If you are in iphone firmware 1.1.2 and wanna re-arrange the icons of springboard via Customize, you may find you can’t for now, ‘coz Customize will crash at the booting spicychicken screen. There’s a lot of bugs reporting this as well.

Actually it’s a permission issue, just set the executable’s permission to 4755 will fix it. You can make it either by WinSCP or other terminal client like Putty. As to the latter, here’s the command line:

chmod 4755 /Applications/Customize.app/Customize

If still failed, try a reset or reboot.

iPhone 1.1.3 H/W Unlocked!!

Friday, January 18th, 2008

Believe it or not, iPhone 1.1.3 firmware just released three days ago has been hardware unlocked!!

TOTALLY UNBELIVABLE!!

It’s said that unlocking process is very complicated, totally different from the software unlocking, and it’s not for normal users, so it won’t be open to the public.

However, there’s an old saying: if winter passed already, then spring is not far away, right?  :-)

I’ve Got Friendly URLs Here!

Sunday, December 23rd, 2007

I know it’s built-in feature in WP 2.3.1. However, due to i haven’t direct control on the server where my site is hosted in, this plan has to be postponed.

Until tonight i found this very valuable article. Exactly what i wannt: no loss to the traffic and smoothly upgrade to the more SEO-ed url pattern by redirecting.

Cool!

To be honest, actually considering the quality issue of the following to-be-public hacking tools based on it, i’m not one of those who’d love to make it open, even if i’m one of those who’s looking forward to the next anySim 1.1.3 miracle :-)

SMSD – iPhone SMS Enhancement Tool

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007

One of my friends has been asking me for a way of how to forward an individual SMS on iPhone. After some googling, I’ve got this: iphone-smsd.

The easiest installation is by Installer.app. Actually you can find it in Utilities->SMSD.

The UI is pretty straightforward, so give it a try.

Of course, if you just like it as I do, please join me to say thanks to the author.

Here’s what it looks like:

Update
: Forwarded Chinese SMS cannot be displayed correctly, guess it’s Unicode issue. And currently the author is working on it. Looking forward to v0.09.

Update: Currently the most up-to-date version 0.0.9 has fixed the above issue.

flashphone – Free PC Calls

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

Just got it one minute ago from delicious/popular. And i tried it immediately by making a call to my mobile number first, and then my office number.

Both worked! Wow!!

My testing computer is IBM T-40 with firefox 3.0 beta 1. For now, I’m so sorry safari doesn’t support flash, or I could use it on my iphone!!

Opera Mini 4

Friday, November 9th, 2007

I’ve talked Mobile Firefox before, and I’ve been using Safari on my iPhone for a while.
And in my perspective, a full web browsing experience in the relatively small-sized screen mobile phone is well worth of a try anyway, esp for those whose phones could support kinda of installations.

Now it’s time. Opera Mini 4 is free to download.

I don have such a phone to try out. So if you do, don forget to share what you feel about it.

P.S. I do love this picture from Opera site.
